Barcelona, December 2025 — The interuniversity programme De la Ciencia al Mercat, promoted by the University of Barcelona (UB) together with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the University of Girona (UdG) and the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), with the support of the Government of Catalonia and co-financing from the European Union, has held the Demo Day of its seventh edition, consolidating its position as a benchmark programme in training for knowledge transfer and scientific entrepreneurship.
The closing event took place in the Aula Magna of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona, bringing together institutional representatives, academic staff, mentors, university entrepreneurship units and agents from the innovation ecosystem.
A programme consolidated in practical training and specialised mentoring
Since its creation, De la Ciencia al Mercat has trained 191 participants over its seven editions, supporting them in transforming research results into opportunities with social, economic and scientific impact potential.
The 2025 edition involved 19 projects, offering more than 100 hours of practical training and 100 hours of personalised mentoring, delivered by 40 trainers and 14 mentors specialising in transfer, innovation, entrepreneurship and business development. In total, 33 sessions were held, including workshops, practical activities and strategic visits to key agents in the Catalan innovation and deep tech ecosystem, such as Pier01 – Barcelona Tech City, ACCIÓ – Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), the Centre CIM UPC, the Deep Tech Summit and the Alba Synchrotron.
The Demo Day: from knowledge to market
The Demo Day enabled seven projects to publicly present their progress and learning outcomes, showing how they have oriented their research towards the market and impact generation. The projects presented were:
Brújula CDD (University of Barcelona) – A tool to diagnose and strengthen Digital Teaching Competence through customised training pathways.
ARTRIA (University of Girona) – A 3D-printed biomimetic arterial model to test stents under realistic conditions without the use of animals.
LoRaMesher (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) – Technology that enables long-distance device connectivity without the need for internet or external infrastructure.
Skill.edu (University of Vic – UCC) – An application for the development of power skills among emerging professionals.
Alba Tech (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) – A proposal for the creation of a European sports eVTOL aircraft for personal aviation.
NovaGov (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) – A digital platform to transform and unify the management and online presence of public administrations.
E-RecoFert (University of Girona) – A device that converts slurry into a resource and generates slow-release solid fertiliser.

Institutional opening and closing
The event was opened by Dr Mercè Segarra, Vice-Rector for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transfer at the University of Barcelona, accompanied by Dr Mireia Canals, Deputy to the Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer at UVic-UCC; Dr Iván Martínez, Vice-Manager for Research at UAB; and Dr Jordi Berenguer, Vice-Rector for Transfer, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UPC.
The closing of the event was led by Dr Xavier Testar, Deputy to the Vice-Rector for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transfer at the University of Barcelona, together with Dr Mireia Canals, and concluded with the certificate award ceremony, followed by a networking reception.
A shared commitment to knowledge transfer
De la Ciencia al Mercat is an initiative promoted in collaboration with StartUB!, the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG), the UAB Research Park and Emprèn UPC, and has become a key programme for bringing university research closer to the market, fostering innovative solutions with real impact.
