Applications open for the «De la Ciència al Mercat» programme
The UB, UAB, UPC, UPF, UdG, UVic-UCC and URV are launching the eighth edition of this programme, aimed at master’s and doctoral students who want to turn their thesis into a business and/or join an entrepreneurial team. It is a free, in-person training that will begin in September.
De la Ciència al Mercat, jointly driven by seven universities, is an initiative designed to promote scientific entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer among research staff. The programme is especially aimed at doctoral candidates, pre-doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, as well as other research professionals who wish to explore the feasibility of bringing their project results to market.
The programme comprises 100 hours of practical, specialised training in key areas such as business models, knowledge protection through intellectual property, technology validation, and strategy for creating startups or spin-offs. It also includes mentoring from professionals with experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as networking spaces with other researchers, entrepreneurs and business sector representatives.
With a hybrid format combining in-person and online sessions, the programme allows participants to adapt to their workloads and progress at their own pace. It will run from September to December 2026.
Previous editions have welcomed more than 170 participants and have helped create twelve new startups, including Gate2Brain, Mitiga Solutions and Koa Biotech, among others.
De la Ciència al Mercat is funded by the Departament d’Empresa i Treball and co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus. The initiative aims to contribute to the consolidation of a knowledge-based innovation ecosystem, fostering the creation of projects with social and economic impact from research generated at Catalan universities.
