  • Ten projects presented proposals covering areas such as deep tech, health, immersive technologies, heritage, educational digitalization, and Internet of Things.
  • The programme consolidated interuniversity collaboration in knowledge transfer and scientific entrepreneurship among six Catalan universities.

Barcelona, December 2025 — The interuniversity programme De la Ciència al Mercat, promoted by the Universitat de Barcelona, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Universitat de Girona, and the Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya, with the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the co-financing of the Unió Europea, concluded its seventh edition, consolidating itself as a benchmark in training in knowledge transfer and scientific entrepreneurship.

Since its creation, the programme trained 191 people over its seven editions, accompanying them in the transformation of research results into opportunities to drive their projects forward.

An edition with a focus on practical training, mentoring, and connection with the ecosystem

The 2025 edition brought together 19 projects and offered more than 100 hours of practical training, complemented by 100 hours of mentoring, delivered by a total of 40 trainers and 14 mentors specialized in entrepreneurship, transfer, innovation, and business development.

In total, 33 sessions were carried out, including workshops, practical activities, and strategic visits to agents of the Catalan innovation and deep tech ecosystem, among them:

  • Pier01 – Barcelona Tech City
  • Acció – Generalitat de Catalunya
  • Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC)
  • Centre CIM UPC
  • Deep Tech Summit
  • Alba Synchrotron

The programme culminated in a Demo Day, in which 10 projects presented their results before academic representatives, mentors, university entrepreneurship units, and actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

According to José Conde, Head of the Business Creation Area of the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera, “De la Ciència al Mercat is a gateway to discovering the world of company creation and entrepreneurship. It offers students the opportunity to approach areas that they often have not had the chance to explore within the university, as they usually focus on research and very technical aspects. In the programme, we work to identify real needs and explore how their research can become a solution.”

Highlighted projects of the 2025 edition

The projects promoted that year reflected the diversity and potential of Catalan research talent:

  • Alma (UVic-UCC) – A wearable device that combined AI and Augmented Reality for natural interaction through voice, gaze, and gestures, reducing dependence on screens and improving accessibility.
  • Brúixola CDD (UB) – A tool to organize and strengthen training in Digital Teaching Competence based on DigCompEdu diagnostics and tailored training plans.
  • Cal.m.a Tech (UB) – Bio-optimized lime biomaterials, without petrochemicals, aimed at bioconstruction and cultural heritage conservation, with a model based on licenses and technical services.
  • ARTRIA (UdG) – A biomimetic arterial model printed in 3D to test stents under realistic conditions without the use of animals, aimed at medical device companies.
  • LoRaMesher (UPC) – Technology that allowed devices to be connected over long distances without internet or external infrastructure, designed for integration by companies in the IoT sector.

A consolidated commitment to knowledge transfer

De la Ciència al Mercat was an initiative promoted in collaboration with StartUB!, the entrepreneurship unit of the Universitat de Barcelona, the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera (FBG), the Parc de Recerca UAB, and Emprèn UPC, and became a key programme for bringing university research closer to the market, fostering the creation of innovative solutions with social, economic, and scientific impact.
